Tech was here two weeks ago to fix an OUTAGE you detected, and it's still showing up on my account.

As the title says, a tech was here to fix a problem.
Service issue detected
We've identified an issue that may affect your Xfinity Internet and Video services. Please schedule a free technician appointment to fix it.

I've done that already, and upgraded the modem, and the problem still exists!

I am getting repeated errors in the modem logs:

un Jan 12 01:45:50 2025 Critical (3) Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=[Edited: "Personal Information"];CMTS-MAC=[Edited: "Personal Information"];CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

That is repeated over and over again.

This slow like dial up has been going on now for about a month.

Like I said, a tech was here, put a filter on the line, and still didn't fix it.

AND, the message is still on my account about an issue detected.

Still N/G. And there is a large number of uncorrected bit errors. Hopefully, the tech will look at these signal stats. Some refuse to. They only look at their signal quality meters. Good luck with it ! Please post back about how it goes.

Turns out, I had a tech here over a year ago for some connectivity issues, after I had

Dish Network installed.   Comcast replaced a splitter outside the big gray box, and put one

onside the box.  SOMEHOW, they tech hooked a satellite line into one output end

of the splitter, and my output to the modem on the other one.   The technician

was just here, said he doesn't know how this was EVER working properly.,  I said,

it hasn't been.  I kept upgrading the speed thinking my stuff was making

higher demands on the speed.     It's been this way for well over a year...

The other tech that was here a little over a week ago, didn't diagnose anything. He

just placed a fitler before the splitter, and left, and I still had the sane issues.

Here is the connection status now:

1 Locked QAM256 36 621000000 Hz 10.2 dBmV 44.0 dB 0 0
2 Locked QAM256 29 579000000 Hz 10.1 dBmV 44.0 dB 0 0

16 Locked QAM256 44 669000000 Hz 9.4 dBmV 43.1 dB 0 0

I could refresh the status, and the errors keep going up and up.  I have refreshed

it several times, and they're still all zeros.

Here is another refresh:
Channel  Lock Status  Modulation  Channel ID  Frequency  Power  SNR  Corrected  Uncorrectables

16 Locked  QAM256 44 669000000 Hz  9.4 dBmV 42.9 dB 0 0

SO yeah, somehow, the previous tech connected a satellite line into the

splitter they installed....    SO, here I have been battling this for over

a year, and I bet I get nothing from Comcast for my troubles...

The dBvm went way down from the previous numbers, and looks like

it is all working now.   I disconnected the amplifier years ago because

it was causing an issue, now it has seem to have fixed it.

Turns out, one of your previous techs connected one of my satellite lines to an
output end of the new splitter he installed inside the box.    The splitter was

originally on the outside, he put a new one inside.  And, somehow, connected

one end of it to one of my satellite feeds.  Your tech, who was here today, said

he does not know how this was ever working.  I said, it has not  been working

since the last visit, AND, before that, the reason fir that visit.

So, I kept upgrading the speed thinking my stuff was making

higher demands on the speed.     It's been this way for well over a year...

The other tech that was here a little over a week ago, didn't diagnose anything. He

just placed a filter before the splitter, and left, and I still had the same issues.
SO, I upgraded again to your 300Mbps, and all I got was 150, which is what
I was supposed to have, and was content with.  Well, after the tech was here
today, it was 350Mbps.  So, I can now go  back down to 150Mbps, I don't
need 300Mbps...      I am not paying for more than I have to with the
bad service I had gotten three times BEFORE today...   I have never gotten any
refund, or pro-rated discounts for all this trouble, to fiend out, YOUR TECH
did it so long ago...  I with there were an alternative to Comcast for internet,
as I would use them.  Your service has been horrible till today, where it actually
got fixed...

So yeah, one of your technicians made that mistake, and I have had internet

issues ever since.

You guys owe me for all the problems I have had till this past Saturday.  Every

incompetent tech was sent till this past Saturday who FINALLY fixed it.

But as usual, I get ignored when I complain.   I can't wait till I have other

viable options...  If FIOS ever gets out my way, you're gone...

@user_kgi9x3 FWIW. There is still an issue with some out-of-spec SNR values on downstream channels 9, 10, 11, and 12. Seems that there is still some spurious noise leaking into the line(s) somewhere at that range of frequencies. You really should get a tech out again to locate where that noise is coming from and fix it. Good luck with it !

So the downstream power is now a bit on the high / strong side but it should be OK. I'd rather see it on the strong side than the low / weak. Glad they got it straightened out ! Good luck to you !

The downstream power is right from the pole.   When he came out, he showed me

all the interference in the signals.   Turns out, about a year or so ago, I had an issue.

They came out, disconnected from the splitter on the side of the house, and put

a new one inside their box.    The tech who came today said he does not know how

my internet was working at all.  I said, well it really hasn't, it's been intermittent, and

I kept upgrading speeds and modems thinking it was my hardware demands.  He said,
if he was right, it looks as if one my satellite feed is cross connected somewhere.  Well,

as it turns out, that tech that was here over a year ago, when he put the splitter in

the grey box?   He put a satellite line into one of the outputs, and then my modem

cable into the other output.   THAT was where all the interference was coming from,

and like he said, he has no idea how it's worked at all for as long as it did.

So, he looked around, and found the loop, took the satellite line off the splitter,
bypassed the other loop inside the house that ran though the amplifier, and voila,

it's all working now.

He also said he will have a talk with the tech that was out a little over a week ago, and

did nothing to diagnose or find this problem.  So, today's tech really stepped up and

got it taken care of.  Even wanted me to verify I still had satellite.

Comcast probably won't do anything to reimburse me for the outrages, and hardware

I went through to keep it running.  SO, I am going to downgrade back to 150Mbps,

because even with 300, I was at 150, but now that it's all fixed, I don't need to continue

to pay their high prices for [Edited: Language] service, which I did get all along, until today.

The only reason I had the tech out just over a week ago, was I was getting a message

that they've detected an issue with my internet, and I need to schedule a visit.  Well,

the message went away, till Monday of this week, so I had to schedule again...  All

that other tech did was put a filter on the line from the pole, and left...  He never came

in to check the signal, or modem status page like today's tech did...
