T3 and T4 timeouts

Hi, I've been having issues with T3 and T4 timeouts the last couple of months and they have been getting worse the last few weeks.  There are no splitters in the coax run between the modem connection and the incoming coax from the box mounted to the outside of the house.  Below is a snapshot of the event log and modem status.  Could this be an issue with the line outside the house?

The signal status numbers are ok / in spec. Are you actually experiencing any connectivity problems, or are you just focusing on those error log entries ?

Yes, I should have been more clear, I have been experiencing loss of connectivity problems, sometimes multiple times per day (often within a small window of time).  Recently, I have been checking the event log every time I get loss of internet connection and each time a new batch of the T3 and/or T4 errors is recorded.  Connection typically restores on it's own after a few minutes.  I've seen the downstream power and SNR numbers fluctuate as I hit refresh every 30 seconds or so.

I am having the same issues.  The last couple of weeks have been very frequent.  The internet will drop for approximately 2 minutes about 10 times per day.  Its curious but my hd antenna stations are also experiencing more signal problems as well.  Loss of signal happens as well for 3 or 4 minutes.  Happens on all four tv's.  Not at the same time as the loss of internet however.

O/k. Even though the signal stats looked o/k at that snapshot in time, the error log entries confirm that something is going on. Perhaps there is noise ingress into the line(s) / an upstream channel-return path impairment somewhere.


There are other signal stat figures that can't be read by the modem. They are the "Upstream Rx Power" (Upstream Receive Power Level), the "Upstream SNR Ch." (Upstream Signal To Noise Ratio), and the "Upstream ICFR" (In Channel Frequency Response). These are as equally important in diagnosing connectivity issues as are the modem's stats.


I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards.  They can check the CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) for any real time degradation and / or error reports, see your node / cable plant and modem health, and see whether or not everything is in the green zone. They can also see a history plot for the modem and poll for those upstream receive signal stats.
