split internet

I need to split my internet into the 2.4 and 5 bands.  My printers will not connect when the bands are combined.  I have tried the Xfinity app but it will not allow me to split.  I needed to upgrade my router and now my printers don't work.

Hey @riley2023, Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to reach out regarding the WiFi network configuration. We can most certainly assist.

If you have an Xfinity xFi Gateway rental, you would first need to remove any WiFi Extenders or Pro WiFi Extenders from the list of devices. As band steering is required for these Xfinity devices, they would need to be removed before you would have the option to split the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network bands.

When all devices have been removed, you would need to use the Xfinity App to split the networks. Please follow the following steps:

1. Sign in to the Xfinity App with your Xfinity ID and password.
2. Select WiFi (from the bottom navigation on the Xfinity App).
3. Select WiFi Details

5. Select Edit WiFi Settings

6. You should then see an option to split the network bands to rename and type in a wireless network password for each frequency.

If you are using your own personal third-party wireless networking router, you would need to reach out to the manufacturer of the device to find the steps on how to turn off band steering.
