Slow speeds, can't connect to online games, dropped from Xbox parties

I activated a new account last Saturday with the gigabit plan and renting an xfi gateway, and since then, there have been two full days where I was unable to play online games with friends and the wifi connection will generally be very slow (xfinity app taking 45 seconds to load, websites not loading properly, etc.) The NAT type on my xbox would flicker between Open and Strict regularly, or every now and then I would experience Double NAT.

I'm never actually kicked off the internet, so when I try to troubleshoot the connection, it keeps coming back that everything is working as it should, even when the connection is at its worst. I have the gigabit package, and while sometimes it works normally, other times speeds will drop down as low as 30mb.

I have tried unplugging the gateway, resetting it through the app, as well as unplugging and resetting my devices. Nothing works. My xbox/pc are hardwired and I have tried multiple ethernet cables. And the devices connected to wifi (phone, tablet, laptop, ps5) are also experiencing similar issues.

I hope this can be resolved quick. Because telling friends I just can't play on a Friday night is very frustrating.

The issue I was having was related to MoCA being activated on my xfi  gateway. Once that was disabled, the speeds returned to normal. The network was being interfered with by my neighbor's network. Turning off MoCA locked down my home network to prevent the interference.

FWIW. We've seen many posts here that the MoCA feature gets turned back on with their overnight reboots / updates for the device. You really should install a MoCA P.O.E. (Pont Of Entry) filter on the input port of the first splitter off of the street drop  like this one:

You can get one for free at your local Comcast / Xfinity store.

Your gateway is likely in default WPA3 security. You will need to lower the setting to WPA2.

Do not use Blue-tooth for the controller.

Connect controller with Ethernet or USB.

@MNtundraRET It has been to default WPA2. I don't have any other options available.

For gaming you require both good download and upload speeds. 4K gaming may require at least 30  MgBts up and down. Double for 2 players. Are you getting that?

Hello @PistolWallet. We always recommend an Ethernet connection when playing online games. This gives the most speed to your device and does not have interference without outside objects.
