Service speed availability
My service is currently 1g down/35m up.
In the app, I now see plans which are 1g symmetric up/down. Does that mean it is available in my neighborhood, or just a tease? How can I find out for sure?

If you're seeing a 1 Gig symmetrical plan in the Xfinity app, that's a good sign, but it doesn't always confirm it's currently available at your specific service address.
