Semi-Frequent MDD message timeout - which leads to high packet loss events / disconnects

I am experiencing MDD timeouts in my modem/router event log and the power levels are too low and out of spec; having a similar problem as this: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/semifrequent-mdd-message-timeout-which-leads-to-high-packet-loss-events-disconnects/6112ea536e891e630f6a97de

I have plenty of screen shots of logs and cable connection status screens if that is helpful

The power levels are marginal to being out of spec. And many of the SNR's are out of spec.

That can cause random disconnects, spontaneous re-booting of the modem, speed, packet loss, latency problems, and the un-bonding of channels.

In an effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1000 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Radio Shack, Home Depot, Target, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.

Also check the coax cable for any damage such as cuts, nicks, kinks, sharp bends, etc.

If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two-way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street / pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

Good luck with it !

@EG Thanks for the response. Xfinity has secured the connections super tight!

A tech did come out once and removed a splitter within my home, but did not check the connection at the drop outside my home. I went to check it out and there is an unnecessary splitter and a DVR filter that may be causing unnecessary noise.

What is the best way to schedule an appointment with a tech who can check the wiring at the drop and remove the unnecessary splitter (we only have internet no cable tv) and the DVR filter (don’t have DVR). Thanks!

@EG @XfinityAaron any thoughts on the easiest way to get a tech out here to check?

Hello user_e43bb9, we can get a tech out to check into this for you. To get the ball rolling on your work order could you please send us a private message with your full name and street address?

"Searching for Xfinity Support" won't work. To send a "Direct Messaging" message to Xfinity Support:
• Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3kajO4e
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
•  - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
•  - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it
See https://comca.st/2XfS9FQ for an example.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.

What is the exact make and model number of the modem / gateway device ?

Please also post the modem RF error log entries as well in their entirety (copy and paste them, don't post a screenshot) but redact the CM MAC and the CMTS MAC addresses for your privacy. They are considered to be personal information. Personally identifying information is a violation of their forum guidelines. The forum bot will not allow your post to be seen publically.
