Router not blocking keywords

I have the router set up so it blocks keywords like lingerie and bikini.   For some reason, it is not blocking any sites with these words.    I have  all the devices as not trusted and it appears to be set up correctly.   Why is this not working?  The lingerie and bikini sites are way too much for my young son to handle, as its pretty much pornography.  Your parental controls are not blocking any of this either.   This is an issue that needs to be resolved. Please repond.

Hey @luckyemma! Thank you for taking the time to make this post and sharing the issues you are having with the keyword blocking. We want to ensure that you have control of your internet and can set up the proper parental controls you want and need to! Let's get this working for you. Are you using your own personal/standalone router along with your modem? Is your modem an Xfinity one or also a personal modem? We look forward to hearing back from you!

I'm having the same problem. I try to st up youtube and facebook as blocked sites and it doesn't do anything. Tried it as blocked keywords as well and nothing. The parental controls on the xFi app are boarder line worthless. I'm trying to block specific sites from the gateway.

Trying to block words on a page from a router is probably never going to work reliably. Most sites are encrypted between the host and the browser (https). The modem/router just sees what looks like random data. If the router decided act like a man-in-the-middle and hijack the security so it can scan, I'd be more worred about that than a few naughty words.

I have a ton of keywords "blocked" through my router and this doesn't work at all. Encryption? What's the point of calling this parental controls if we can't use it to control content?

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, as I can only imagine how concerning this would be, especially if I was trying to have certain websites blocked, to protect my children from viewing. Rest assured; you're with a pro, and I will be more than happy to look further into this with you!

Before we begin, can you please click on the chat icon, in the top, upper right-hand corner, in an effort to send me a private message, including your full name, and your full address? I'd like to look into this with a more isolated approach, with the possibility of having a ticket submitted. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to speaking with you!

I no longer work for Comcast.
