Resetting Router Multiple Times a Day

I have to reset my router multiple times a day as the internet goes out. The light on the router stays white though I do not have any service. Once I reset it, the service comes right back. Is this an issue with my equipment?

Hey there, @user_knstmg thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding the issues with your connection. I work from home and I know how important it is to have a solid connection. Have you checked all of your wiring to ensure everything is connected correctly? Also, do you have your modem plugged into a power strip instead of directly into the wall outlet?

Xfinity seems to be doing some changes/updates to their network.  I had this last night about 2am - stopped working, although when I logged onto to the xfinity.com sight on my phone over LTE, it said they were doing something and the service would be back up.  This morning, the same page told me to unplug the router and plug it back in.  Like yours, the white light was on solid with not indication of problems, but when I power-cycled it, it came back up.  We've had less of that lately, but during the summer, it was all the time.  Upside is, whatever they were doing ended up giving us much faster upload speeds - "upgrades". :)

I think if your white light is on, then there's very little chance you have a power issue or wiring issue.  No power=no light. We had a bad adapter that would periodically go out, but when that happened, the modem would reboot and come back online. So yes, white light should indicate it's connected.  If you are near an xfinity store, they'll swap out your adapter or even gateway if you need it.

I'd say log into xfinity.com to see if that tells you anything. It's possible there's some signal interruption coming into your home - maybe marginal levels - but I'm not sure how the modem reacts to that.  When I have seen that, the white light is not solid, but blinks orange for a good while.  At any rate, if it's happening all the time, you may have to schedule a tech to come out.  I know that's a drag because half of them don't understand how this stuff works either, but at least they may be able to verify you have good signal coming in.  Just be careful that they don't make it worse.  We had one guy come out and without testing a thing, cut our drop and put a new one across the yard that had to be buried again and that didn't solve a thing.  Turned out it was a problem with some equipment on the line that they fixed later.
