peer-to-peer networking

I have installed two Apple HomePod Mini devices on my Wi-Fi via my Xfinity modem/router. When setting up these devices, I received the following error message from the devices: "Some Features May Not Work on This Network. HomePod features like AirPlay and Personal Requests may not work on this Wi-Fi because it does not support peer-to-peer connections." These features are key in using them as intended as I roll out my fully developed smart home using these devices on Apple HomeKit. How can I set my Xfinity internet service to support peer-to-peer connections?

Peer to peer connectivity on the HomePod allows an iOS device like an iPhone to connect directly to the HomePod to stream music or phone calls. I think you should contact Apple support for this, since only the HomePods appear to be affected.

Are you having issues currently with them? I got the same message when I set up my HomePod Mini but it worked just fine after the setup was completed - it's now working as the HomeKit hub in my house, replacing the Apple TV 4k, and all my devices work as intended.

I received the message ("Some Features May Not Work on This Network. HomePod features like AirPlay and Personal Requests may not work on this Wi-Fi because it does not support peer-to-peer connections.") only after I grouped the two into one set (for stereo sound in the same assigned room). I found a solution that I eventually decided not to use: I segregated the master HomePod Mini (the only one that needed it) by IP into it's own DMZ; however, after receiving many security violations that occurred by the next day (even though all were blocked by Xfinity's systems and sent to me as notifications - BTW, Thank you, Xfinity), I decided to remove the DMZ. I now have instituted Port Forwarding for my master HomePod mini. This works as a solution. Now the two work as intended. My only concern is whether this is a safe solution - anybody know?

My second "alleged" solution indicated above (about using Port Forwarding), allowed the HomePod Minis to work just fine; however, other Wi-Fi devices on this network started strange behavior -- they would not connect to the same local Wi-Fi and when they attempted to connect, they would ask for the Wi-Fi password again and again, etc. Therefore, I had to delete the Port Forwarding. Now the Wi-Fi devices are all operating normally; unfortunately, the HomePod Minis are once again not working in a peer-to-peer manner which has been the reason for this whole process! Getting very frustrated. I have reset each of the HomePod Minis. My HomePod Mini (master) now has the message that "This accessory is not responding." "The HomePod is not responding." Now I am back where I started, the HomePod Minis will not communicate and are useless. My goal is to have this be the HomeKit hub in my house but currently they are less than meeting expectations. Any ideas? Help.

Thanks for your suggestion; however, I just brought all devices (including the Xfinity router, the HomePod Minis, etc.) offline then restarted each one from scratch. Now, at least for now, all seems to be working and not adversely affecting other devices. At this time, I will remain cautious but will carryon this as my latest solution. Hopefully, whatever aberration that caused my issues has been laid to rest, RIP. Now I can concentrate on the fun stuff. Thanks again for your interest and helpful suggestion, I will contact Apple if needed, should there be a recurrence of these bumps along the way.
