parental controls report

Do the admin tool parental control reports work correctly if using an Xfi Gateway? I just found out that my router is Xfi. Before this, I had set up parental controls through the admin tool. The reports generated will show keywords were blocked during times we aren't home. Why is this?

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. Like most parents, you may be curious what kind of content your child is consuming online. Luckily, with Xfinity you never have to wonder. With help from the Xfinity app, our parental control tools can help you filter out inappropriate content and monitor Internet activity, such as logging what sites your children visit while surfing the web. When using the Xfinity app, you can easily enable the xFi Parental Controls feature. You can also use the app to restrict WiFi access in your home using features such as “Bedtime Mode”, and “Pause”.

When using the Wireless Gateway Admin Tool, you can block certain keywords or web addresses on your home network; both of which are effective ways to monitor and control what your child sees on the web.

Take a look at the instructions below:

  • To access Parental Controls, Pause and Active Time Limits, open the Xfinity app and sign in with your Xfinity ID and password. See Home Network Customization and Control with xFi for instructions.
  • If you've previously set up a device block or a scheduled block for a device from the Wireless Gateway's Admin Tool (http://10.0.0.1):
    • For a device block, you'll see the device listed with a Pause icon indicating WiFi access over your home network is already paused. For a scheduled block for a device, you'll be notified that your prior settings will be cleared.

We hope this information helps. Let us know if we can assist you with anything further!
