On 1200mbps Plan, Only Getting 450mbps

So a couple months ago I upgraded my plan to the 1200mbps plan. I never received those speeds and decided to finally figure it out. At first I was getting 650-700mbps, sometimes up to 750mbps hardwired directly to the gateway. I was using the Xfinity XB7. I bought my own Arris S36 and received the exact same speeds. I did some research and thought maybe it was a provisioning issue, so I asked an Xfinity agent to reprovision my device. Immediately after my speeds - both wired and wireless - dropped to 450. A tech came out and said all the wiring outside looked good and that he was pulling 975 from other the outlet or the modem, not sure which one he tested as I was in the other room to give him space.
I’ve tried factory resetting my modem but I’m still only getting 450mbps hardwired. I’m sure it’s not my laptop or desktop limiting me, I built my desktop myself and it’s got pretty good specs and my laptop is brand new. Both have a 1gb Ethernet port, so I should be getting around 940mbps plugged in.

I’ve been on and off with chat and phone support for a week now and I’m not getting anywhere. I would really appreciate any advice you guys have. Ask any questions you need to also

Greetings, @nikicollazo! Thanks for reaching out to us on the Forums! I hope you are having an amazing day! I apologize to hear that you are having issues with getting your full internet speed. Are you able to log into your modem and post information about your modems channels? Do they look like they are locking? Can you also let us know what operating system you are running?

Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1

Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

Thank you for taking the time to send us those specs @nikicollazo. It does appear those numbers are within range. I am happy to hear those speeds have increased significantly but definitely not where we would want them for a hardwired connection. I definitely understand how frustrating this can get but please rest assured, you definitely have the right team! We'll definitely stick with you to get to the bottom of those speeds. I would like for us to do a little more research into the account, please send us a private Modmail message,

(https://comca.st/3CqxRJG), with your full name and service address.

After lots of fooling around in my modem settings, I was able to boost my speeds somewhat. I enabled DFS, switched my 5.0ghz to 20/40/80/160 from 20/40/80 bandwidth, and tested each individual channel for speed until I found the best/most stable one. I also updated my ethernet driver to the newest one from the manufacturer's website (I had checked this before, using "update driver" in device manager and it told me it was up to date, after searching the part number on the realtek website I found a much newer driver). I'm now maxing at around 800mbps wired/wireless. My desktop which I use wifi on is on the other side of the house and I get the same wifi speeds as right next to the modem and hardwired through ethernet on my laptop. Seems to top out at 750-800mbps. I'm on the 1200down/35up package and my upload speeds are consistently 42mbps.

Sorry for the late response @XfinityJeniece @EG

Also both my desktop and laptop are running Windows 10, with the most recent updates. Wifi/ethernet drivers all completely up to date.

Your link is yet another example of the drawbacks of using link shorteners here in the Forums.

If you had just posted the actual link, you might have noticed that it was all wrong. "https://comca.st/3CqxRJG" expands to "https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/Comcast_Xfinity" which is a Reddit link, for sending a message to a Reddit user. You and the OP are posting in "forums.xfinity.com", NOT Reddit.

You are asking a poster in the Xfinity Forums to log in to Reddit and send you a message there. That may not work out well.

@nikicollazo: To send the requested information in a private message to Xfinity Support from any Forum page:

  • Click "Sign In" if that prompt is visible

  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person", but don't do that.

Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there. As you are typing a drop-down list appears.

  • Select "Xfinity Support" from the list. An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

  • Press Enter or tap the > icon to send it
