Not getting advertised uplink speed.

Own Cable Modem: Netgear CM1000v2

Plan: 800/100

Am able to get 800+ downlink but uplink is stuck around 25.

Chatted with agent and was mentioned that 100Mbps uplink will only be available if I rent the Cable modem from them. Is it a true statement?

There are a few retail devices approved by them for higher upload speeds, but the CM1000 is not one of them. See:

Also see the "All Compatible Devices" link near the bottom of https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices (at the moment it points to https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2023.11.22%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf).

... CM1000"v2"... v2 is actually in the recommended list. ...

Realize that although Comcast calls some devices "Approved" and some "Recommended", for all but a few devices those designations only mean "approved/recommended for use with their Internet service", and not necessarily "approved for the new higher upload speeds". For 100 Mbps upload you need one of the devices shown with an upload speed rating in the .PDF and the Reddit links, which also lists other requirements for those speeds. Comcast could make all of this much clearer, but they have chosen not to do so.

The CM1000v2 is certainly, on a technical level, capable of 100Mbps upload speed. Why isn't XFinity able to support that?

@artermis-1024 Thank you for commenting on our community forums thread. At this time there are only certain modems that are approved. When more become available they will be added to the list under Next Generation Speeds on Use approved third-party equipment for Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice

@BruceW - Xfinity just published an updated list and added one new CM to "Next Gen Speed Tier" list.
