Not Able to Log onto our Local Xfinitywifi Hot Spot Anymore with My Android Powered TracFone

The past week my Android powered TracFone has not able to connect to the local XfinityWiFi hotspot near our home, which has been OK for the past year. Prior to last week, I could get on/connect with no problem. My phone now detects it (Xfinitywifi) but when it tries to connect, it displays 'failed to obtain IP address' for the Xfinitywifi. Any ideas what may have happened? I did get a connection today, but only for a couple minutes. I'm not a 'techy', but can learn fast. I don't have a router hooked up.
