Thank you for posting your question here in the Xfinity Forum. We apologize for the confusion, but the 6 GHz WiFi signal is only available via our XB8 modems. We currently only offer the 2.4 & 5 GHz WiFi signals via the XB7 modem. To learn more about our Xfinity modems and all their specifications, please see here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/broadband-gateways-userguides.
Unfortunately, at this time, when shipping modems to customers, we are unable to guarantee a customer will receive an XB8 modem when making that request. You can go to a local Xfinity Store to see if they have any available to you. Find a local Xfinity Store here: https://www.xfinity.com/local/store-offers
Please let us know if you have any additional questions or comments.
The information provided earlier is accurate. The XB7 does not have the capability of providing the 6 GHz WiFi signal. Per the article shared earlier, here are the specs for the XB8 modem.
As you can see the XB8 modem is set up for a "tri-band" WiFi connection. Where as the XB7 modem specs below show that it is only set up for a "dual-band" WiFi connection.
We apologize, but it looks like there may be some confusion about our modems being provided by user @Jlavaseur
Again, as of today, only our XB8 had the ability to broadcast the 6GHz WiFi signal.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments.
@XfinityJessie ax = Wi-Fi 6, the Xb7 doesn’t have a dedicated band for it, but it’s there, on my old Xb7 the admin panel, it wasn’t grayed out, I was able to select ax and 160 bandwidth for Wi-Fi speeds roughly 1400 Mbps
Again, I apologize for the confusion, but WiFi 6E is not the same as WiFi 6. WiFi 6 corresponds to the standard 802.11ax. This standard mainly refers to the two established frequency bands for WiFi; 2.4 and 5 GHz. Products labeled WiFi 6 do not support 6 GHz. Products that support both 802.11ax and communication on the 6 GHz frequency band, may be certified as WiFi 6E by the industry association WiFi Alliance.
