New iPad Won't Conect to Internet

Just received a new iPad Pro and I cannot establish a persistent connection to the Internet using my home network.  I have an Xfinity router. My iPhone X connects fine as does an older iPad Mini.  I have tried resetting the iPad and every time I connect to the router (which always goes fine) either the Internet connection will not happen at all or if an Internet connection DOES happen, it only lasts about 5 minutes then disconnects.  Nothing wrong with the iPad as I can connect on other systems.  The issue seems to be connectivity between my new iPad and the Xfinity router.

Hey there, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding connecting your new iPad. Congrats on the new iPad Pro! I have been wanting to buy a new iPad for a while now! How are you liking it?

 

In regard to getting connected to your in home network. Are you showing the network name available however it just will not connect? Are you getting any error messages? Also, how far away from your modem are you when attempting to connect the device?

@XfinityJeniece​ I keep losing the Internet connection.  The connection to home Wi-Fi is not a problem, but the connection to the Internet disappears after the connection is made so I end up with a Wi-Fi connection that is not connected to the Internet.

Thank you for that information, @user_b6e871! Can you let us know about how many devices you have connected to your Wi-Fi network? Have you tried to turn some of them off and then connect the iPad to see if it connects WITH internet and stays connected?

Even though I have automatic backup, my iPad, after several attempts will not back up!  Apple says there’s an ongoing issue regarding this issue.
