My Wife's Work Laptop Cannot See Our Xfinity Gateway

We have an Xfinity Gateway model CGM4331COM.  I have connected many devices to it (Computers, Android and Apple Phones, Security Router, Raspberry Pis, etc) with no difficulty.  I have it set to use the same name and password for both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz networks.  However, my wife's work laptop does not recognized network.  I have tried to edit the network as directed in this post to use different names.  It still cannot see the network.

What other troubleshooting steps should I take?

Well this is the manual;

HOW5220_200406_XB6XB7_GSG_04102020.pdf (xfinity.com)

All the available comcast information, including other routers; yours is at the top

Overview of Xfinity Gateways

The forum post you are refering to is the local home network.

It is found in the explorer shortcut list, usually.

Most likely cause of this is the wife's computer is setup incorrectly.

Unless you are somehow blocking the services from access list using MAC address.

The actual problem in your question is that the wife's computer is unable to establish a connection. This is usually recognized in Windows as an Unknown Network.

There is a differnce.

A very first example I can advise is check Computer properties for the network name and workgroup. Sometimes people bring in wrong configurations from public hotspots and libraries.

Make sure the wife's computer is welcomed in the gateway set up.

In windows 10 this setting is found on the right panel as Rename this PC(advanced).

Until this setting matches the names you will not be able to get anywhere. After you can confirm this information. Drivers, network passwords and reseting must be done to fix this issue further.

Your wife's network card might be only 2.4g, some have problems with that not seeing the gateway, try going into device manager, double click on network adapters, double click on your network card, choose the advanced tab, look for something that say mode or similar, it will probably be set to auto, set it to G, this has fixed some posters issues
