Hello @user_lqu3pq, Thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave a post. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the modem. Is this your first time connecting the modem? Have you tried unplugging the modem for 30 seconds and plugging it back in?
Hi @CaddME. Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. You are more than welcome to use your personally owned networking equipment. We certify many modems that can be used with our services. With the G36, we would only be responsible for getting the device added to the Xfinity network to provide Internet access. As this is a personal device, you would be responsible for the wireless network setup and more. As this is not an Xfinity device, the Xfinity App cannot be used to change, edit, and view wireless information like it could with the modem rental. If you are unsure how to set up the G36, I recommend reaching out to Arris support which can provide you with information on how to manage the wireless network.

I Was testing the Arris G36 Router/Modem recommended by Xfinity.
The G36 took a while to connect via Ethernet wire but no wireless detection in the Xfinity App.
After reading several reviews and comments about the use of the Arris G36 with Xfinity, there are
several valid suspicions in regards to Xfinity to make it very difficult or even blocked the use of
any external equipment to force clients to use the Xfinity rental equipment which is an over price fee,
currently at $25 per mo equals to $300 per year.
At this moment I'm considering canceling Xfinity all together to avoid this type of abuse.
