Low Upstream Power Level

I am having a problem with the wifi in my house.  I have high speed Xfinity internet.  The Internet speed for my ethernet connected device is excellent,  700mbps download.  My wifi in my house varies too much.  Sometimes,  on my smartphone,  I have to forget the network and refind it. I have reset my modem back to factory settings,  same issue.  I have an Arris Surfboard SVG2482ac.  I contacted Arris,  sent them my settings,  they tell me my upstream power level is too low,  and I have to contact Xfinity to have them adjust it up.  My upstream power level is 41 to 42 dBmV. Arris says it should be 45 to 51, no exceptions.  I contacted Xfinity,  they tell me they are sending me the correct power levels.   They can not check the settings on my admin settings page,  as they did not provide the modem.  They also told me that I could adjust the upload speed settings on the admin page,  but I would have to contact the manufacturer.   Is there a way to adjust the upload power settings from my end?  I think I'm getting the run around.  Thanks,  Steve

What are your downstream levels? Anything you might be able to may also affect those. Comcast uses a different range of 35-51, so you are in range. Customer service can’t “send” levels, any adjustments are at the home

Your complaint about Wi-Fi, really has more to do with your router functions than upstream

Thank you for your response.

The Cable Signal Levels are the information your device is getting from the coaxial cable, unfortunately we can not adjust them.

Your upstream power should always be between +45dBmV to +51dBmV and your upstream power levels at the moment are between 42.75BmV and 40.0dBmV. By having the values in less than those, your device will have interrupted connection, slow connection or no connection at all.

We will appreciate if you can contact your Internet Service Provider in order to adjust the signal levels they are sending and set them within the acceptable ranges between 48 to 50 dBmV if possible.

That is the responce from Arris, but you feel I should not be concerned with my Upstream Power levels?   My downstream levels are 0.5, 0.2, -0.3, -0.8, -0.9,  on the 5 indices provided.  I appreciate any help you can provide!  Thanks,  Steve

Theoretically you could add a 3 dB attenuator but how would that help your Wi-Fi issues? Again, the signal levels have nothing to do with your Wi-Fi’s reach. The signal levels is what is needed for your modem’s performance.

You should be concentrating on your router’s performance, possibly Wi-Fi extenders, since that’s your issue.

I don't know if this matters,  but this Arris Surboard unit has the router built in--its a combo unit.  So, to concentrate on my router's performance,  are there settings on here I can address?

FWIW, adding additional attenuation works to lower the downstream power levels (not needed in your case) but the way that the system / CMTS works, it just makes the upstream power levels look higher / prettier as read by the modem but it really doesn't do anything.

Here are some tips for improving WiFi performance;

There are other options. Google for WiFi repeaters / range extenders, WiFi mesh systems / pods.

I am having slow internet speed with T25 modem . I have 600mbps connection and the max download speed I am getting is aorund 220-250 mbps .

On the modem status it shows that the downstream levels are with in specs but the upstream power values are 30, 31,34,30,29,

I called Arris support and I was told that these need to be between 45 and 51. Comcast tech support is saying they cannot adjust these values.I have no idea how get this issue resolved. I am really disappointed with Arris modem and it looks like I wasted $200 on T25 modem.
