Location trouble

We've been having trouble with location based apps such as casino gambling.  We keep getting the notification that we are outside of Michigan (and we are not) and this prevents us from playing.  This has happened on all devices (tablet, laptop, pc) and we've even had techs out twice.  They've replaced the router and a connection from outside to the router.  They've checked the line from the box to the pole.  We've also cleared cache, cookies, restarted, re-installed.  Nothing is working and the problem is getting worse.  What the heck is going on and why can't this be resolved????

You likely received a new / different WAN (public) IP address assigned to your connection from their DHCP server / IP address pool, and the rDNS / geolocation data that is associated with it is now incorrect for you as it previously belonged to someone else that lived in that other area. Comcast shuffles blocks of IP addresses around the country all the time.

ISP's don't correct this. A third-party service does. Unfortunately, this is typically a *back-burner* thing to get corrected. The only thing that you can do is to report it.

Wait for the geolocation provider to approve your request. If your request is approved, the amount of time it takes to see the correction varies by provider. The average is a month or more.

You can also try this;

If you are using a router that has a MAC address cloning feature, you can clone a different MAC address into it. This will force a change of your Comcast assigned WAN / public IP address. No guarantees that the new address won't also have incorrect geo-data as it may be from the same block of IP's. YMMV.

Hi, @user_985b2f. I see you've reached out before, swap devices, and even had a tech out. With that said, you are still running into this location issue. Have you tried any of the steps provided above? If so, have you seen a change?

@XfinityVianney
We had 4 techs out.  Modem/router switched out twice.  Cables replaced from outside in.  This last visit we've have seen improvement.  One of us has gotten 'out of boundary' location notice on one app but was able to get back in.  Today I noticed my weather app checked in at a location two hours away, but when refreshed it came back to home.  In summary...maybe the 1st modem/router replacement was glitched?  In other notes... I know one thing, since the new cables were installed our speed is up and less packet loss.
Let's pray things don't go bad again
