local channels changed
I have Xfinity internet only, and I use Fubo and Peacock to stream my local broadcast channels. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, and have always received Pittsburgh-area local channels.
Recently, all my streaming apps have started giving me West Virginia local channels instead of Pittsburgh, which means my Xfinity‑assigned IP address is being placed in the wrong DMA (Designated Market Area).
This issue has been reported by other Xfinity customers when their IP addresses were incorrectly mapped to a different broadcast market. [forums.xfinity.com]
Could you please:
- Check the DMA / broadcast market assignment for my service address
- Refresh or correct the IP-to-location mapping on your end
- Ensure my connection is properly assigned to the Pittsburgh DMA
This problem is affecting all location-based streaming apps, and using cellular data shows the correct Pittsburgh channels — confirming the issue is with my home IP address and not the apps.
Thank you for your help!

Comcast/Xfinity doesn't do that. They assign your public IP address, but do not control where others think that IP is located. That's done by third parties. https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/fix-geolocation-of-my-ipaddress/666127b51e56d61567f91b4d?commentId=66618f1609e34b487ca2560a and https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/correct-geolocation-data may help you correct the location info.
Changing your public IP may or may not change where these third parties think you are located. If you're using your own modem and router, you can use the router's "clone MAC" feature to change your IP.
If you're using a rental Comcast device, they do not provide a way to change the IP address, and they won't change it for you, so you'd have to:
A VPN is another possibility. If you use one your public IP won't actually change, but systems you connect to will see the IP provided by the VPN rather than your actual public IP.
