line trouble

I'm having my internet connection drop upwards of 5 times a day.

This has been going on for about 4 weeks and is getting worse.

I've restarted everything several times, forgotten and rejoined my wifi connection on my laptop, restarted the laptop, you name it.

It still happens.

I need a tech to come out and inspect my line outside.

How do I get that to happen?

First. As a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?

With this test, we are trying to isolate this down to being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step in troubleshooting before proceeding any further.

@EG I will do this and check - it may take a bit to see if it makes a difference but I'll. comment here when I know.

Thanks!

@EG My kid who is plugged in thru Ethernet has experienced zero drops while I have dropped at least twice since he's been online.

So, I guess it's wifi only.
