Latency Bad Routing for Fortnite EPIC GAME Servers in Dallas Texas, and Ohio/ Virginia
Greetings,
My name is Will I have been a customer for a very long time. I switched from one of Xfinity competitors for a better service. I have bee struggling for years trying to find out more on the EIGRP, BGP, EGP routing table for Xfinity. I have been major latency because of Xfinity routing issues.
Someone even created another post showing the exact tracert I get when I run the command.
https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/horrible-latency-when-connecting-to-fortnite-pc/63af319d507b4d3af9e11671 what was his resolution? Because yall just closed the forum and the problem still persist.
This had the findings on the timeouts that produces the latency for people gaming on Epic Servers. People want to play competitively but Xfinity is not putting the customer first by resolving the issue. It can be change by forwarding Epic Gaming Packets in a different route to reduce latency.
For example I live in Jacksonville, FL the game server I play on is in Texas, why is my internet routing to a backbone route in Marietta, GA contributing to my major latency issue. Shouldn't I be routed towards Pensacola?
"News flash all of EPIC ESPORT COMPETITIONS ARE HOSTED IN DALLAS TEXAS" we need a better route.
Even when I play servers in Virginia and New Jersey, why does it show my hops are timing out?
How many Ggps does not matter that is just the bandwith not the latency. We need better routes. Someone put in a request for this to be resolved but the ISSUE proceeds. Its been a year, no resolution thanks for my fellow customer friend. I had xfinity competitor and got 15ms to that server, I switched to xfinity I have 50ms to the server. Again the results are in the forum above why are your customers still receiving latency. I am a Network Engineer who build and maintain networks, I am certified I know it can be done. Xfinity I ask you for once help your customers. People want to make Esport careers but other people have far more advantage because our ISP is creating more latency by not correcting the routing tables for routing to Epic Game Servers whic is hosted on Amazon Web Servers.
PLEASE FURTHER ADVISE. I am a Network Engineer please do not provide with steps to reboot my modem when we ALL HAVE TRIED THAT 100x. Its not our devices its XFINITY ROUTING EGP,BGP, EIGRP, OSPF we are experiencing issues at the layer 3 Network Layer.

Im having the same exact problem I live in Utah and 1-2 months ago I use to get 20-30 ping on the Texas servers for Fortnite and other games like Valorant and around 3 weeks ago I started getting major packet loss and high ping into the 70-80s (I use Ethernet) for a game like Fortnite ping is really important and I now have to use a service called Exitlag to fix my routing and return my ping back to normal I shouldn't have to pay for a routing service to get my original routing

Same issue. Traceroute shows packet loss in Houston and Dallas, and this issue isnt relegated to Apex, it’s just very noticeable there because it’s so competitive. I’ve been having this happen the last 2 weeks in Apex, Fortnite, Overwatch, etc. I’ve got Apex tournament this weekend and my plan is to tether to my ATT phone connection because that’s more reliable right now. Not happy at all, I hope they acknowledge and address this soon because it’s not useable in its current state.
