Horrible Latency when connecting to Fortnite PC

I play fornite on PC. I have a brand new router and modem. My internet is 1.2GB connection and I am wired connection.

My cousin and I both did a traceroute test. My game is having packet loss like crazy were his is not and we both have comcast service. I have confirmed it is not a network issue on my end when it comes to my computer and router etc. Both of us work in IT and believe it is a bad hop in the connection to Epic game servers.

What should I do as the traceroute there are hops that won't ping as it's disabled so XFINITY has to troubleshoot it and I can't get a reliable technician or anwser from the ccompany.

Hello @Jerbear05. Thank you for posting to the Xfinity Community Forum to share your experience. My son loves this game and goes crazy when problems arise, so I understand how much of an inconvenience this could be for you. I wanted to ask if you are having issues (drops in connection, or speed issues) with other games besides Fortnite?

@XfinityChe I am not having any issues with other games or applications. Even tried 2 different vpns to see if that would fix the packet loss which it didnt. Which would indicate it is a local hoping close to my home having a error of some kind. Did traceroute for AWS Epic Server with me and my cousin which we both have comcast. I am experiencing issues and he is not. Oh course his path route is a little different than mine, but we cannot troubleshoot any further as most of the pings are no responsive time outs guessing it was disabled.

Hardware: Wired Connection. Cat6 patch cords, Asus RT-AX86U router, Arris S33 Modem connected together with 2.5GB Wan Port. My internet connection is the 1.2GB plan.

My Traceroute on my comcast service.

Massive packet loss everytime during game play.

@Jerbear05 I know this is ~5months old but I've had the same issue now for around 12months with no resolution in sight-- it's still a big issue for me. AWS-East will consistently drop my games. If I switch to AWS-West it works absolutely fine.  Comcast refuses to believe its a routing issue and won't do anything about it. Got real tired of being told to reboot my modem or PC, etc.  Just curious if you ever got them to fix your issue?

Very interested to hear more on this as I suspect I'm experiencing the same issue. I have not tested other games, but have had no other latency / packet loss issues with other online services.

@Mi2kep thank you so much for letting us know you are also having connection issues when playing Fortnite. I would definitely recommend doing a check to see if you run into issues with any other game when playing online. Also, are you using a PC with a hardwired connection or are you using a Wi-Fi connection to play?
