Just updated my Internet speed and it is slower now than it was before.

Do I need to do anything to the modem?   I did turn off the modem and router, then restarted them.  Nothing changed.

Sometimes even slower speeds.   I had 400m and updated last week to 1000m.

Modem - MB8600

Router -  ORBi RBR50v2

Thanks in advance.

@evak47 - Did you check my device info page prior to upgrading your speed tier? as MB8600 modem does not show up on my device info page for 1Gbps service tier.
Based on the most recent list of the approved CableModems, Arris MB8600 is approved for "Up to 949Mbps", that means the highest Tier you could provision that modem is 800Mbps and not 1Gbps.

@user_noname -I would love 800 Mbps.  With the 400Mbps service it was usually 200-250Mbps that it would show when testing the speed.

Even 600Mbps would be great !

Thanks for response.

... updated last week to 1000m. ... Modem - MB8600 ...

The MB8600 is not approved for Gigabit Internet service. It's approved for wired download speeds "Up to 949 Mbps".

Realize that although Comcast calls some devices "Approved" and some "Recommended", for all but a few devices those designations only mean "approved/recommended for use with their Internet service", and not necessarily "approved for Gigabit".

AFAIK Comcast has never said how they provision devices operating on speed tiers they're not approved for. All I can tell you is that many customers who tried it have reported that they don't get full speed. There's a tendency to think the device will operate at the maximum speed it is capable of, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

BruceW - Thanks for response.   I was hoping to get 2X my 400Mbps service (actual 200-250Mbps) when I went to the 1000Mbps service.

Just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I had to tweek on the modem when changing service levels.

Still has very poor speed.  I was able to get 400+ yesterday, early morning, but then later that morning it was in the 100's.

I only got 124 just now.  Why the difference?  Seems about the same as when I had the 400Mbps service except I see a faster speed

once in a while.

Thanks for asking.

OK - Bought a new Arris S33 v2 modem (Xfinity recommended).  Router plugged in 1 Gbps port. My speed is still the same 180-190 Mbps as the old modem.

Any ideas what I might try next.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, @evak47

Are you attempting to increase your upload speed with a compatible Next generation speed tier device? The Arris S33v2 is not recommended. These devices are:

CommScope G54
Hitron Technologies CODA
Hitron Technologies CODA56

Netgear CM3000
Ubiquiti UCI

Also, has your area been upgraded to mid-split capability? Areas across the network have been receiving emails about free increases to their download and upload speed, but these increases are not the mid-split enhancement to the node.
