ISP Data Center proxy ip address issues
I have discovered that Xfinity uses data centers in certain cities and routes residential users internet data through these centers which generate proxy IP addresses. I am an avid sports fan and use sports apps on my smart TV to watch my out of area teams. I have run into an issue with the IP address assigned to my home network. Xfinity has assigned my home network an IP address that, using geolocation, locates me over 200 miles from my actual home address. all of my sports apps have begun blacking me out of games that are in the Location of the IP address not my actual address. I have contacted Xfinity 5 times and been told the issue is being fixed without anything ever being done to fix this and give me an IP address that matches my geolocation.
I am at my wits end and my next move is to end my relationship with Xfinity and find a new ISP.

Comcast assigns your public IP address, but does not supply geolocaton info. Web sites get location information from third parties and it's a somewhat dark art. Essentially websites you provide location information to make extra $$$ by selling your location and IP address info to geolocation providers, who turn around and sell that information to companies who want to know where you are located.

You can find your current IP address by clicking on this link: https://nordvpn.com/what-is-my-ip/ . Copy the IP address and put that in where it asks for the IP range. It will accept a single IP address. Then as you fill out the rest of the form, put your zip code as the location. According to what I can see, it can take weeks to months for the request to be processed.
