Is binding devices possible to xFi Gateway or xFi Pod

I already contacted Xfinity and it seems like they weren't understanding what I was trying to tell them. I recently added a xFi pod to our Gateway system and now my laptop is automatically connecting to the xFi pod which is 20-25 feet away (6-8 walls away) vs. the xFi Gateway which is 4-6 feet away (no walls in between). I simply asked if I can bind devices manually to either the Gateway or Pod and at first they said yes but could not point me into the right direction. Then they were telling me to disconnect from the WiFi on my computer and to connect to the Gateway only not the Pod. I told them I only have 1 access point which is the Gateway and then they were telling me to rename the pod as if it was a Access Point when 1. it's purpose is just to be a WiFi extender and 2. it shares the same SSID as the Gateway since it is a mesh system. I then asked if I could rename the Pod's SSID which seemed impossible and the representative said it was not possible and I also asked if I could just turn the pod into a Access Point to work only via Ethernet but looks like it's not possible. So after about an hour and half of going back and forth I got no answer on how to simply bind devices to either the Gateway or Pod. The issue for me is I am paying for 800mbps and the pod drastically drops it to 150-250mbps. Which I understand the pod only supports up to 500mbps but I find that not being able to bind devices through the Xfinity app or Admin Dashboard (10.0.0.1) a bit ridiculous. The representative then told me that a technician must come to my house to fix this issue which I don't think he will be able too although the technician would probably have a better understanding of the issue then the representative.

I'd really like to know if this is possible if not I feel like I wasted $120 on the pod.

Hey @user_0r10n,

Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to visit and review our Xfinity Forums guidelines.

With the WiFi Boost Pod and xFi Gateway, you would be unable to assign specific devices to the WiFi Boost Pod or Gateway. The xFi system would automatically assign each device to the best connection for performance. Binding is not an option that we provide. A technician would also be unable to make the changes that you are looking for your devices.

If the WiFi Boost Pod is not working for you as intended, you do have up-to 30 days to return the device. You can visit our "How to return or exchange WiFi Boost Pods or Storm-Ready WiFi and Battery Backup" support page to fill out the form.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding the WiFi Boost Pod and we will be more than happy to address them.

I'll add here. In reference to that question, the 1st generation pods did not support ethernet backhaul. The 2nd generation ones that are currently available do. I don't know if you will be able to but perhaps you could try to make some kind of an arrangement with them for a swap or a trade-in for the latest pod. Good luck !!
