ioT device connection requiring 2.4 Ghz

I purchased a Feit Electric Smart Water Sensor that requires a 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi network.  We have an Xfinity Technicolor XB8 Gateway at home.  I cannot get the sensor to connect to WiFi.  Is there an extender available that can be configured to only extend the 2.4 Ghz band so that I can get the sensor to work?

Thanks.

You can split your XB8's broadcast into two bands, each with its own SSID and password.

Log into 10.0.0.1 → Connection → Wi‑Fi → Edit. Turn off ‘Combine bands’ to separate the frequencies. After saving, you’ll see separate listings for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz.

I read in an earlier post that this was not advised.  Thoughts?

I did it and haven't had any problems.

I have an Xfinity extender (looks like a puck).  Any issues with the extender handling the separate frequencies?

thanks!

If you want to use their WiFi extender pods, then you can't split the bands. The pods won't function.

Pardon for the delay in responding.   As I have an Xfinity pod, there is nothing I can do without buying an extender to split out the network.  Wish I was not in this situation.

Our gateways do typically assign devices to the channel they are best suited for without the bands needing to be split. When you try to connect the water sensor are you showing your WiFi Network, and just can't connect? Or are you not able to even see your network as an available option?

I see my WiFi network, however the device does not connect.  I spoke to Feit technical support, who said that the network needed to be split out.  I’m going to purchase an extender that will allow me to do this.  Hope it works.
