Internet Speeds Dropped Immediately After Requesting Service Online

This morning I connected with a service rep to confirm the time of a scheduled service visit. Last Sunday, I scheduled an appointment for today to have the coax ports in my house activated that are currently not in use by my modem. When we bought this house two years ago, a tech came out and activated the port for our office so I could place the modem there. Unfortunately, they left the rest of the rooms disconnected. We decided to move some things around and shift the office upstairs, and I would like to move my modem there, but I am unable to get a signal.

Apparently, today's appointment wasn't actually scheduled by the service rep last week. I voiced my frustration because I have limited availability and scheduled the service call for today with that in mind. It took about 40 minutes for the service rep to schedule an appointment for me, and immediately after the chat ended, I noticed my internet speed had dropped significantly. For wifi, I was getting around 700-800 Mbps, but am now only getting 50-60 Mbps in the same spot. I haven't taken my computer downstairs to compare the wired connection yet, but suspect it has decreased as well. For reference, I pay for 1 Gig. I did notice that about 3/4 of the way through the chat session, our internet connection randomly dropped.

I am currently scheduled to have the tech come out next weekend, and confirmed it. Is there anything I can do about my speed in the meantime? I work from home and depend on a solid connection.

user_eeeeck Thank you for posting on our community forum so we can make sure you're getting the internet speeds you pay for. Scheduling a service appointment does not affect your internet speeds, so I'd like to troubleshoot with you until we get everything back up and running properly :). What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? You can find some helpful steps to get started here if needed.

Get another provider. Even cellular providers are better than Xblibbity who has zero human customer service OVER THE PHONE. WHICH IS WHAT PEOPLE NEED....
