Internet constantly dropping

This started about a month ago and I am officially at my wit’s end. 2 months ago we got an Xbox, everything was great. 1 month ago it started constantly showing ‘not connected’ or ‘paused’ even though the app says otherwise. This is now happening on our other devices. Trying to download a new game on the Xbox is a whole day project as the connection is continuously dropping. 

I’ve tried restarting EVERYTHING multiple times. I’m using my phone data to write this up since the connection is dropping. Help.

Is this with a WiFi connection ? If so, as a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?


With this test, we are trying to isolate this down to being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step in troubleshooting before proceeding any further.

Hi there! We only have a computer hooked up via Ethernet and it seems to have no issue. I should have been more clear that this is wi-fi we’re struggling with.

I guess my question is why does it show strong performance on the Xfinity app but constantly disconnecting or ‘pausing’ on the devices’ end? It’s a brand new gateway!
