Internet connection drops several times a day. Usually around 8pm, midnight, and late morning
I am hoping the forum can help because I am getting so tired of going to xfinity support who only seem to be able to say "perhaps if we reset your modem..." Because Xfinity had me thinking I had a bad modem and because it was showing as outdated on Xfinity's list, I recently replaced it with a Netgear CM2050V. This did not solve any problems. What we are experiencing is network outages lasting from 10 to 30 minutes, one to several times a day. The most common symptom is a DNS error - but I have learned that this is because there has been a timeout after a DNS request. Here are the modem diagnostics. I've spoken to Xfinity support multiple times and all they can seem to do is reset the modem. I had a tech (finally) come out to the house and say all the signal levels at the POP were fine, but he did not look at the modem values at all. Here is the info, I am hoping that someone might be able to offer some advice or suggestions.
This field below allows you to modify the frequency the cable modem start with its scan during initialization and registration. Enter the new start frequency and restart the cable modem for it to take effect.

The upstream power is too high (out of spec on channel number 1) and it may be intermittently fluctuating even higher out of spec. That can cause random disconnects, spontaneous re-booting of the modem, speed, packet loss, latency problems, and the un-bonding of channels.
In an effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1000 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Radio Shack, Home Depot, Target, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.
Also check the coax cable for any damage such as cuts, nicks, kinks, sharp bends, etc.
If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two-way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street / pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.
Good luck with it !

This sounds pretty similar to what I experienced. Eventually Comcast sent out a technician and he checked the connectors that were located in the basement of my apartment complex. That was a couple months ago now and it hasn't happened even one single time. FINALLY! I signed up in January and had bought an approved ARRIS modem from their list. So of course the only feedback I really got ever was that it was my hardware. Arris said the same thing. That they had no control over that stuff. I had decided it was something to do with the QAM power levels or something like that. And it was weird it always seemed to happen after midnight like clockwork. My internet would stop working, id run a speed test on my phone and determine whether or not the WIFI was working, and reset the modem. It happened throughout the day as well sometimes but not as frequently. Sometimes unplugging the modem would work, but more often than not I also had to get a call or a chat going with technical support and it would require them to send me a signal. Sometimes it just wouldn't work for hours or until about 6am. I did this for the first nine months of my contract. Calling and text chatting at least 5 times a week to get it going again. I can't even tell you how many times someone said or texted to me, "I Promise you this issue has been resolved and it will not happen again." The first scheduled tech visit was cancelled the day of with me personally, I guess because they had inspected a line in the area or something like that and decided that it also probably fixed my problem. I can't exactly recall what was said about that. The second scheduled appointment my modem was tested and also the connectors in my apartment. That all came back fine. I'm not sure if he checked any of the connectors in the basement, but I definitely did not let him into the locked area where the box is located. I did, however, with the next technician that came months later. He checked them out and said the connectors or splitters were crappy and that was probably the problem and it sure was! Like I said my internet hasn't gone out even once since then. It's been awesome! :)
