I just received an "upgrade" gateway (XB6). It only has 2 Ethernet ports.

I am currently using 3 ports on my old gateway. Can you send me a gateway that supports more ports?

I am glad to hear you were able to get the modem swapped for a different model at the local Xfinity store. I have an XB8 but also have an ethernet switch as @EG mentioned. They work great! You can see all of our modems here. Our Community is always here and happy to help! Thanks for reaching out!

The actual solution was to go to the Xfinity store where I could speak to an actual human, who resolved it in two minutes. The web chat “assistant” was worse than useless.

If you need more ports you can use an ethernet switch connected to one of the ports on the gateway device.

Yeah. I really don't see how purchasing additional equipment to support my "free upgrade" is a satisfactory solution. Thanks for taking time to respond.
