Hp officejet pro 8600 can’t connect on comcast

This printer is working elsewhere but will not work now. The only thing that has changed is the service is through Comcast now.
Dud all the troubleshooting with tech support. Finally they says you need the xb8 modem. They sent the xb7. I called and said wrong modem, they sent another xb7. I finally went to the local office, returned the 3 modems and was told that humans no longer pick the order so now no matter what an agent puts in the order the computer will only give you what it feels best suits your level of service. I now have a $500 printer that can only be used hardwired which will require me to reorganize my space completely to try to get it wired. This is ridiculous!

An FYI, the XB8 modems are still in short supply; some areas seem to have them while other areas do not yet.  An XB7 should work for you regardless.

As for your printer, if you just moved from another ISP to Comcast your printer may be trying to connect to that other service.  Resetting your printer is the first thing to do, which you probably already know, by removing the power cord for 1 minute and then plugging it back in.  Also, your printer is most likely trying to connect to 2.4 while any gateway now is at either 5 or 6.  You would need to split the 2.4 and 5/6 out in order for your printer to connect.  You would need to do this using the Xfinity xFi app.

Your HP 8600 printer may be able to connect through Wi-Fi Direct. Check your HP printer manual for using this option.

The Wi-Fi signals go between your computers or other device and the printer. The comcast equipment is not involved.

I had the same problem. The issue was that the printer only understands WPA2 security and the Comcast XB8 router uses WPA3 by default. I used the Xfinity app to change it to WPA2 and was able to connect the printer to the router using WPS.
