How do I keep upnp on my gateway always on?
It seems to turn off in recent months after never having done that previously. I have seen messages about changing the advertisement period but no clue as to what to change it to.

1. Access your router/gateway's web interface:
Log in to your router or gateway's web-based interface (usually by typing your router's IP address in a web browser).
The IP address is often found on a sticker on the router or in your router's documentation.
You'll typically need your router's username and password, which are also often found on the router's sticker.
2. Locate UPnP settings:
Look for a section related to "UPnP," "Universal Plug and Play," or similar terms.
The location of these settings may vary depending on your router's make and model.
Some routers have separate sections for "Device Discovery" or "Advanced Networking" where UPnP settings can be found.
3. Enable UPnP:
If UPnP is disabled, enable it by checking a box, selecting an option, or toggling a switch.
You may also find settings related to UPnP's advertisement period (how often the router broadcasts UPnP information) and Time To Live (how far the information is broadcasted).
Adjust these settings as needed, but be aware that shorter advertisement periods can increase network traffic.
4. Save your changes:
Make sure to save your changes after enabling UPnP and adjusting any related settings.

I have the same UPnP turning off problem. It appears to be somehow tied to long periods of attachment to UPnP devices (PC, NAS, etc) available remotely via UPnP. My UPnP can go weeks remaining on... until I stay REMOTELY connected to a media server for several hours at a time. In other words, when I don't use remote UPnP device access, UPnP stays on longer. It's a real CATCH 22 problem.
NOTE: I've also tried several ADVERTISEMENT periods and TIME TO LIVE hops. No difference. And, I tried turning off ADVANCED SECURITY. No difference.
I tried port forwarding... but the ports don't open up correctly. Keeping UPnP on without AUTOMATIC TURN OFF... MUST be a CUSTOMER OPTION!

Okay. looks as if Xfinity is again...in the dark about their own issues regarding keeping UPNP from disabling on it's own. I am having same problem...and Xfinity advises NOT to port forward as it is a security concern/vulnerability.
