home network router hostname
I have Comcast internet service and I can see that I am a part of the comcast domain : hsd1.wa.comcast.net. How can I find out the specific hostname that points to my IP address/my home network router in that domain? Secondly if I had that hostname could I reference my home network using <hostname>.hsd1.wa.comcast.net from anywhere on the internet?

Entering my public IP address in a Command Prompt window works for me, like so:
nslookup {IP address}
returns
Name: c-{IP address}.hsd1.pa.comcast.net
You should be able to, yes.

Gotcha. To confirm, are you attempting to perform a reverse DNS lookup? You can also find your hostname using the Command Prompt on a Windows device. This can be referenced anywhere on the internet.

Quick and dirty way to see what your Xfinity assigned IP address is? From a machine/device hooked up to your network: https://whatismyipaddress.com/
Click on the IPV4 address link on that page, and it will show you a pointer (PTR) name. Likely c-xx-xxx-xxx-xxx.hsdx.[state abv].comcast.net. From the weberverse, you can use this name to find your gateway. Now this IP address can change at any time, but likely doesn't very often.
