Higher Ping in the Summer... every summer
Hello, I pay for 1200 MBPS internet and I live in a apartment complex. I play rocket league competitively and every summer my ping will go from a constant 30 to spiking up to the 50s and 60s. I am sure I am not the only one with the problem, I verified with a friend who says he has the same issue. I have tried 2 new modems, new coax, new ethernet, changing internet settings, and contacting xfinity at least 5 times, to where I get 0 help. I am wondering how I can fix this latency as I play in the midwest connecting to east servers, which has never been a problem before. Even on discord I am getting latency spikes which is very new to me as well.

Hey there user_v4rquq 👋 Even though I'm self-admittedly pretty buns at Rocket League, I'm in the competitive Splatoon scene regularly hahah, so I definitely know the importance of keeping those connections consistent for sure. You're in the best place for help, and we'll do everything we can to get those pings back in acceptable ranges for you 👍
Summer heat in general can impact internet ping by causing Xfinity Internet devices to overheat, leading to reduced performance and potential connectivity issues. Proper placement and ventilation of the equipment are infinitely essential to prevent overheating. Can you confirm your modem is not placed on any heat-retaining surfaces such as sheets or carpet? Or near other heat sources such as in front of a window that the sun beams in on?
