High Latency and Transatlantic Routing Issue to Game Server (Albion Online)
Hello everyone,
I am experiencing severe latency spikes and connection drops while trying to connect to a specific game server (
live01-win-01.dc02.albion.zone). I ran a traceroute and noticed that my traffic is taking a massive detour and failing at the destination.
For context, I am on the Internet 1000 plan and using a wired Ethernet connection.
I am located in Indiana. Here is a breakdown of what the traceroute shows:
- Hops 1–6 (Local & Regional): Connections to local Comcast nodes and Chicago hubs look great (under 20 ms).
- Hop 8 to 10 (The Jump): Latency spikes from 19 ms to 130+ ms as the traffic jumps onto the
aorta.netbackbone and crosses the Atlantic to Europe. - Hop 21: Traffic hits the game's hosting provider gateway (
gw.gcore.lu) and latency spikes past 230+ ms. - Hops 22–30: The trace times out completely and never reaches the final destination IP.
Is there any way to get Comcast/Xfinity to look into this routing path, or is this an issue that must be resolved by the destination network hosting provider?
