Gig Speed Wifi Speeds Cut in Half
I've been searching for solutions for the past few days but have not been able to find one that has worked. The setup we have is with the 1200 plan, using our own modem (Netgear CM2000) connected to Asus GT-AX11000 with a Cat6 patch cable, using the 2.5g LAN port as WAN.
When I connect directly into the modem with the same cable, definitely receiving the max speed and then some when running a speed test. When testing speeds via the router, plugged in a WAN port and wifi, using same cords, computer and also testing wifi on iPhone 12, the speed seems to cap out at 650 down/40 up. I have QoS turned off, which seemed to resolve the bulk of issues with a lot of users but that really didn't really move the needle. So by simple process of elimination, it appears there is something the router is doing to throttle the traffic.
Is this normal to get the half speeds via the router? Are there any other settings that I am missing?

Ok so i a unusual setup but use a asus Rt ax 86u router, i absolutely get the the advertised speeds, 1300 - 1400 Mbps, so on my router it gives the option of having the lan or wan port 2.5 gig, so either way its a bottleneck, so i figured out that on my router it gives the option of having a dual wan setup, so belive it or not i use the comcast supplied xb7, so i run 2 ethernet cables to the asus router. the 1000 Mbps ports not the 2.5 gig red port, you can configure the dual wan setup, so you configure them both as 1000 Mbps, so anyway i configure the lan port on the router, as the 2.5 gig port, this way i am getting the great speeds, averaging around 1400 Mbps, of course the xb7 cant be in bridge mode, i know there are issues doing it this way but easiler overcome, also the crazy part is i still have the 2.5 gig port on the xb7 free, i see your modem has the 4 ethernet ports maybe you can duplicate this setup, on some asus routers you can install the Merlin firmware, plus i download the Merlin firmware source and i am able to compile my own firmware, but should be able to get the correct speeds with the stock firmware, also i just use the default settings except for the dual wan p-ort
