Geolocation issue

Since some work was done in my neighborhood last week, geolocation is not working for me and when I use a web browser it seems to think I am located in Gardner, Massachusetts, when in fact I am located in Oakland, California.  I have found that restarting my modem fixes the problem, but only for a day or so, and then it reverts back to thinking I am in Massachusetts.  I have seen that other people have had this issue but I have never heard anyone say that restarting the modem fixed the issue temporarily.  Any idea what is going on?

Thanks for confirming @oakpatch. I would recommend checking out the information included on this forum thread from our Expert, https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/router-indicating-wrong-geographic-location/61d0c361e41a4a46af42b441.

We do use dynamic IP addresses which change and can show different locations. We do not have a way to manually set up your location. You can attempt to release and renew your IP address, but there's no guarantee it will work to change the location.

However, as mentioned in that thread, If this is done on a computer that is behind a combo modem/router gateway device or a stand-alone router, it will only serve to release and renew the LAN / private IP address that is assigned to the computer by the router's built-in DHCP server, not the WAN / public IP address that is assigned to the router/connection by the Comcast system's DHCP server. I hope this information helps!

Hey there, @oakpatch thanks for creating that public thread here on our Xfinity Forum! We would be happy to assist you with your account location. I know how important it is to have your devices showing the right location! Are you having this issue with a specific device?

@XfinityJeniece It has been happening with all my devices, so it isn't specifically a problem with a device.  The only thing that has solved the problem for all my devices is restarting the router. For the moment the devices are currently showing the correct location but I am waiting to see what happens tomorrow.
