Gateway Stopped Broadcasting 2.4GHZ

I have a Gateway meant to be split broadcasting at 2.4ghz and 5ghz with two different network names. All of a sudden the 2.4ghz networked has vanished and the light on the Gateway for 2.4 is off. Both continue to show up on the xfinity connect website/tool as operational. Restarting the gateway has not helped. Any suggestions? This is very annoying as I cannot use my printer on 2.4ghz. Thank you

The two WiFi bands SSID's have recently been combined into one with the Comcast gateway devices. Some devices get confused and don't know how to see / talk to combined SSID's.

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 names and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Associate the printer with the new 2.4 SSID (broadcast name) and password.

Thank you for reaching out, @kaen. I definitely understand how this would be frustrating. Just to be sure that we are on the same page in regard to what has been done in order to try and fix this. 1. You said you have a Gateway, but just to make sure, is this an Xfinity leased Gateway? If so, have you tried the steps outlined in this article to split the network?

Yes. it is an Xfinity leased Gateway. And yes, it is already split with two different names as per those instructions. However,  the 2.4Ghz network is no longer broadcasting and the light is no longer lit up on the physical gateway despite both being visible as active when I view them in the web-based comcast admin tool.

Thank you for those details @kaen. We do recommend keeping the 2.4 and 5ghz under one network name when possible. This will allow your devices to pick and choose the best connection. This link explains that further. If that's not possible though, I'll be happy to help you troublehsoot your network. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address?

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

  • - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

  • - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

  • Press Enter to send it

I no longer work for Comcast.

I have the same issue, although both my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz lights are blinking on my Xfinity gateway.  I did separate them as at the time it made more sense and was easier to navigate.
