Fluctuating internet speeds

It seems that with increasing frequency my internet speed fluctuates dramatically.  It will run with download speeds of 14.5 and upload at 17.9 and then 30 minutes later its back to download speed of 125.1 and upload at 23.4 - it’s maddening!!

I’m tired of paying higher and higher prices and my internet speed gets worse and worse!

I’ve tried most of what is in your response - Verified that everything meets minimum requirements, paid attention to lights on my modem, reset everything (…multiple times), but it makes no difference.  Everything is fine for a few days, then it slows WAY down for an hour or so, then it’s OK for a few hours, then slows way down again. Like I said in my original post, prices continue to go up ($76 a month for internet after a discount) and service goes down, and customer service is even worse…. Sadly, there is no other option here but Comcast or I would change in a heartbeat

@troutandabout1 Do you have your own modem or leasing Comcast modem?  You might want to try your own modem and see if that helps any.

Yup, I have my own modem. I’ve found over the years that I can buy a better modem than I can rent and when you look at what Comcast charges, its cheaper to buy your own….

Hello, @troutandabout1 thank you for taking the time out of your day to create a post, you have contacted the right place for assistance. Working from home myself, I completely understand needing to have your home network performing optimally.

I appreciate the update that you have attempted the troubleshooting steps on the link, and confirmed the modem is capable and on the certified modem list: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/list-of-approved-cable-modems.

- Are you connecting WiFi or with an Ethernet connection?

- Are you using a router besides your modem?
