Extreme packet loss while playing Apex Legends
Hello - I've been an Xfinity customer at the same address in central New Jersey for the last several years and in that time, I've been playing Apex Legends, the online FPS game, without issue. However, earlier this year, EA, the company that owns and operates Apex Legends, switched to AWS servers with an Anti-DDoS solution installed at the server level. The interaction between Xfinity and these servers seems to be causing tremendous packet loss in ranked play, to the point of the game being unplayable.
I've tried to remedy this in every way possible, but this other post and the comments all seem to indicate that people throughout New Jersey specifically seem to be encountering this problem. Every thing this person and the people in the comments describe apply to my situation as well: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/severe-inbound-packet-loss-only-when-connected-to-ea-antiddos-apex-servers-wired-xfinity-connection/6977013218df686529e2c968
This is an extremely frustrating situation and I'm now looking into switching ISPs if possible. Nothing else I do online is impacted by this - the issue is specific to Apex Legends. My connection is otherwise great.
But this is one of my favorite games and the interaction between your network and their servers seems to be sabotaging it. Is there any way this issue could be elevated to an engineer or team that deals with online gaming? I've since upgraded all of my equipment, new cables, new modem, new router, and even tried different servers in the game, but the issue persists. Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated. Many people seem to be impacted by it. Thank you!

This thread also seems to be addressing the exact same problem. Many people here are encountering it. I'll submit a complaint on the EA/Apex Legends support forum as well, but it seems like the Xfinity and EA teams really need to talk to one another to resolve this.

Hi there, @user_hl5bzd. Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community Forum. Sorry to hear about the ongoing trouble with Apex Legends and packet loss. I can understand the frustration as I play a few games online myself. With the issue appearing when there was a change on EA's end and not XFINITY's end, we would direct you to EA to see if they can address the routing. We don't have an engineering team that would specialize in gaming, and given the circumstances of this issue, it appears that the AWS change is where the problem lies.
