extend my dual ssid network

I have the Xfinity gateway router split with 1 ssid for 2.4 and 1 for 5ghz.

I need to add a extender for my weak network reception for my  2.5 ghz outside lighting.

does xfinity have a extender?

Yes, but it can't be used when Wifi bands are split. See https://www.xfinity.com/hub/internet/home-network-wifi-extenders and https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfi-pods-faqs:

@user_kpw7q2 Hi!! Thanks for reaching out to us  If you've separated your WiFi into distinct 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, you do have options to extend the 2.4 GHz signal for devices like outdoor lighting that may be on the edge of your coverage area.

Xfinity does offer xFi Pods, which are designed to extend WiFi coverage throughout your home. However, they work best when your gateway is using a single WiFi network name (SSID) managed through xFi. Since you've split your bands into separate SSIDs, compatibility and performance can vary. We do have our Xfinity Pro Gateway which can also help with coverage areas.

Could you let us know which Xfinity gateway model you have (XB6, XB7, XB8, etc.)? That can help determine the best option for extending your 2.4 GHz network.

Question please. It is my understanding that the Xfinity pods will not function at all if the gateway device is in bridge mode. Am I wrong ?

I am having the same issue. I bought the WIFI pods only to find out they won't work with my split band set-up. Mine is also split due to outdoor lighting. I have an XB7. What are my options to extend wifi for my pool equipment, water treatment equipment, outdoor lighting?

Since your XB7 is split-band and you need coverage for outdoor areas, consider placing an Xfinity WiFi Extender in an indoor outlet closest to your outdoor equipment. This will help extend the WiFi signal to your pool and lighting systems. Alternatively, you may need to adjust your network settings or consider other outdoor WiFi solutions, as Xfinity WiFi Extenders are not designed for outdoor use.

Again. The pods don't work with split bands.......

@XfinityDemetrise​ The problem is the XFINITY pods I paid $199 for do not work with a split band and I MUST have a split band for certain technology. I have areas to put the pods that would get me the access I need but THEY DO NOT WORK WITH SPLIT BANDS. That is the problem we are all trying to solve for. Do I need to use the neighborhood fiber and drop Xfinity? It is looking like that may be the next step if I need to buy a new modem to make all of this work correctly.

I can understand the frustration, especially after investing in xFi Pods and finding they aren't compatible with your required split-band setup. Since the Pods are designed to work with a single unified Wi-Fi network, they can create challenges for devices that require separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Can you share more details about the specific devices that require the split bands that you are utilizing?

I am so frustrated.  My Brinks security need 2.4 so I split my broadband but the router is still not connecting to my cameras.  I am ready to just try a dish.  How does xfinity produce an extender that doesn’t work with split broadbands ???
