Disable XB7 public WiFi hotspots

I have Xfinity fiber service with a Nokia fiber ONT connected by Ethernet to a white Xfinity XB7 gateway (CGM4331COM). My ASUS router handles my home network, but the XB7 is still broadcasting the public SSIDs “xfinitywifi” and “Xfinity Mobile.” I confirmed these are coming from my XB7 by unplugging power from only the XB7; both SSIDs disappeared, and they returned when I powered it back on. The Xfinity app does not give me the hotspot control, and the hotspot settings page says my device does not support public hotspots. I need an Xfinity representative to disable both public hotspot broadcasts while leaving bridge mode unchanged.

Just circling back with the resolution in case it helps anyone else with a similar setup.

Xfinity confirmed that my account and location were eligible to use my own router directly with the fiber ONU, so they changed the account provisioning to remove the XB7 gateway. After the order was approved, I disconnected the XB7 and connected the Nokia ONU directly to the WAN port of my ASUS ZenWiFi.

Everything came back up normally after the provisioning change. The xfinitywifi and Xfinity Mobile broadcasts disappeared completely once the XB7 was removed, and my Internet service and speed remained unchanged. I am currently seeing roughly 900 Mbps download and over 1.1 Gbps upload on my 1 Gig service.

So the final setup is simply:

Fiber → Nokia ONU → ASUS ZenWiFi

Xfinity also advised me to return the XB7 within 30 days.

Xfinity’s hotspot settings page says my device is not eligible for public hotspots, but I physically confirmed that my XB7 is broadcasting both “xfinitywifi” and “Xfinity Mobile” by powering off only the XB7 and watching both SSIDs disappear, then reappear when it powered back on.

Yes, I still need assistance.
