Delayed Ethernet Connection

Hoping someone here can help with an issue I recently started having.

I have Xfinity's CGM4140COM gateway and the 1000 Mbps speed plan. I have my 1-year old HP deskstop, running the latest version of Windows 10, connected directly to the gateway via ethernet. About a week ago, I noticed that whenever I awaken the HP from the sleep mode, it takes 10-15 seconds for the PC to connect to the internet. Up until last week, the PC would connect almost instantaneously. I've rebooted the PC and power reset the gateway. I ran the Xfinity Speed Test just for the heck of it, and it's fine.

I'm wondering if this is more of a Windows, HP, driver or settings issue, rather than a gateway issue?

While it's not a major issue, it is kind of a pain when you're used to just hopping on the keyboard and jumping on the internet. Waiting a few seconds is not big deal, but 10-15 seconds isn't right.

Anyway, would welcome any thoughts/input out there.

<< Also have been experiencing this and monumental packet loss issues since around the same time. Buying my own hardware and seeing how that fares me, also keep my $14/month where it belongs, to me. >>

Please let us know what hardware you purchase and how it works out. Thanks.

I for one have long ago stopped thanking any help desk or customer service department in advance for problems they have not yet addressed, solved or are ignoring. I have yet to see a message from Comcast saying: "Dear valued customers, thanks for bringing this to our attention, we're on it and will let you know when the problem is solved." Simple, easy, but apparently beyond their capabilities.

Thought you might find the posts from 7thirty7 on the website below interesting, especially the last post on page 2. He's not a Comcast customer so he can't post on our thread. But he is using the same modem provided by Shaw in western Canada and having the same issue:

He's an XFinity customer which is owned by Comcast, ie. same company.  They posted the resolution was a different modem.  I think they meant to say router.

Can the new users posting in this thread confirm if they are using the same model Gateway as mentioned in the original post? Are you guys using the CGM4140COM model gateway?

I notice the delay (ranges from a sec to a few seconds) for every device (wired and wireless) that connects.  So, I have to reset my HP printer every time I want to print and other smart devices say “unable to connect” the first and second try.

I had an Arris DOCSIS 3.1 modem and 4-year old Amplifi mesh router and it never happened with that setup.  It’s 100% the xFi Gateway.  I turned off advanced security, and nothing changed — so that’s not it either.

Would love to know how to correct this too.
