Comcast Wi-Fi Blocking GIFs/Sites Like Yarn (getyarn.io)

Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue where GIFs and sites like Yarn fail to load or display properly over my Comcast Wi-Fi connection—videos show as blank/black screens with no errors. This affects all devices on the network, but the exact same content loads and plays fine on mobile 5G data.

I've already tried extensive troubleshooting on my end:

Swapped routers

Flushed DNS cache

Manually set phone DNS to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1)

Changed xFi firewall from Typical to Custom (all options unchecked)

Disabled parental controls

Rebooted modem/router

Disabled IPv6

None of these resolved it. However, enabling a VPN while on Wi-Fi fixes it instantly, confirming this is a network-level issue on your side (e.g., IP-based blocking or filtering).

From what I've researched, this appears to be a known problem tied to high bot traffic from Comcast IP ranges triggering protective measures on Yarn's end (e.g., Cloudflare restrictions). It's been reported widely, especially among Comcast users, since mid-2024—similar to issues with DDoS mitigation affecting legitimate traffic.

Could you please investigate and resolve this? Options might include:

Disabling any upstream/server-side filtering, DNS blocks, SafeBrowse, or IDDS overrides on my line

Assigning a clean/static IP if available

Liaising with Yarn/Giphy to whitelist Comcast ranges

I'd appreciate a quick fix—thanks for your help!

user_hxzs4l Thanks for posting on our Community Forums. I would consider resetting the modem (and router if applicable) back to factory settings by leaving it unplugged for a longer duration. I've seen of one other time when similar issues were happening, and neither our team or the website admins say any issues, but factory resetting helped clear things up.

@user_hxzs4l FWIW. Just leaving it unplugged "for a longer duration" does not result in a reset to factory defaults operation. It's just a longer *powercycle / reboot* operation. This is how to perform a full factory reset: Depress and hold in the recessed reset button on the rear (or use the WPS button if it doesn't have a reset button hole) for 30 seconds. Be advised that you will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be re-configured from scratch. Good luck !
