Comcast router blinking in the middle of the night

Seems like most nights, at around 4AM, the Comcast router that sits in my closet starts blinking. Seems to happen most nights but I'm not sure of the exact frequency - like 4X per week etc. Is the router updating at this time? If it is, what is the frequency? Does it do it every day. Thanks for any help and information.

@Rensalier Thank you so much for your post for help with the flashing lights on your Xfinity gateway/modem. The flashing lights typically mean the modem/gateway is not able to connect. We do perform network updates and maintenance during late night/early morning hours but do post the alerts for when that will be beforehand if planned. If not planned there may have been an outside factor that caused an issue with the services in your area that needs our technicians to repair. If you are noticing these flashing and there is not an alert when you check your Xfinity app or Status center there may be an issue with your connection specifically during that time.

@XfinityAmandaB - Thanks for the reply. The router is blinking at about 4AM every morning and there are no alerts on the app. I got up and checked this morning. Is there a way to get someone out to check the service and router to ensure that it's working properly? Thanks, Keith Howells

It's quite a common occurrence. There have been thousands of posts here over the years concerning that. The overnight hours are their window of opportunity for performing network / modem / maintenance / updates / upgrades. This can result in disconnections.  But it shouldn't happen every night for a long period of time. Sometimes the process goes awry. Good luck.
