Choosing Right internet speed

@EG

If you are streaming a lot of content on firestick and also have a computer and tablet connected to your gateway what should be the ideal internet speed? I remember sometime ago either you or someone else posted a link here where it tells you what speed you need given the amount of devices connected to your network,  but I don't have that link anymore. In any case if I have amazon fire stick, computer and tablet what is a good internet plan how many mbps?

Thanks

@EG

My plan has 400mpbs download and 10mbps upload, why do you think the upload is so low compared to download?

Here is what I used to tell posters;

The current upstream / return path bandwidth spectrum allocation on DOCSIS is physically limited. It's the current nature of the beast. This is why there isn't as much flexibility in offering faster upload speeds compared to the download.

Here  are informative articles about the future of the upstream bandwidth capability for DOCSIS based systems;

They are currently upgrading their network systemwide to the new mid-split system. Perhaps your area has not been upgraded yet.

The main issue would be how much SIMULTANEOUS usage would be happening. And even then, most streaming comes in short download bursts. 4K tops out around 25Mbit, and most is lower than that.

But 400mbps download and 10mbps upload is more then enough to stream in HD and just have very fast internet in general right?

@Tatyana1 It looks like @EG and our other community members have provided some great advice and resources regarding suitable internet speeds for the number of devices you'll be using regularly. For 2 or 3 devices for a single person, 400 Mbps/ 10 Mbps will most certainly be more than enough to support streaming and day-to-day usage. If you do have any additional questions regarding this, please let us know!

I no longer work for Comcast.

I have the 200/10 (actually get 240/12 on speed tests), and have no issues. It's just me. Just general browsing and some streaming. No big video game downloads or stuff like that. More than enough speed.
