Change modem reboot time

My Xfinity modem (Arris TG1682G) reboots every morning at approximately 3:45am.

Since it's the same time EVERY morning I assume it's a scheduled event.

I've checked the Xfinity internet app and the Gateway login (10.0.0.1) and found no settings for daily reboot.

My morning schedule is put on pause for 10 minutes EVERY morning while the modem reboots.

Is there ANY WAY to set this reboot to another time of day?

@EG So it is a scheduled event?  Everyone who needs their internet just before 4am has to suffer thru this...every day.

So after thinking for a good while on this topic, my rented gateway, when i was using it, it never rebooted daily, in fact it would have uptime on wards of months, but my cable box would reboot at the same time every morning, so i am thinking there could be a correlation between the two, i personally would watch to see if the cablebox and modem rebooted at the same time or set the cable box to reboot at a different time and monitor the results, who knows i have seen stranger things,  just a crazy thought

FWIW, there have been many many posts here lately about this. Something changed / is going on with the Comcast system.

@EG Yes i been following them, but since there is a 10 minute downtime, i would take 5 seconds to glance at my tv to positively rule that out...

@jlavaseur My TV had never "gone out".  But I do not have a TV box from Xfinity.  I have 2 cablecards for 2 Tivos.  There is a way to change the reset time on the TV boxes.

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/changing-daily-update-time

But this has nothing to do with the modem.

Is the modem hooked up directly to the wall outlet? Is there any splitters or amplifiers that may be in the home? I know you mentioned you had cable cards but we just want to make sure we cross out all options that may be causing the reset. I had a splitter in my home that kept resetting my modem at similar times, but not exact times.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinityMartinB

It happens at the same time every night. That's not characteristic of a connection impairment. There have been boatloads of customers posting about this exact same thing here lately. Perhaps the powers that be at Comcast should look in to something systemic ?

Data modems can be rebooted by the system without the cable TV boxes being rebooted. And vice-versa. It's not necessarily a simultaneous occurrence.

@EG i agree 100 % with that, but the key words are not necessarily a simultaneous occurrence, all i am saying if it is simultaneous, for me it would require further investigation...

Hi, @Doit2it42. I checked the area and signal and everything looks normal. It is hard to say what the issue is, but a ticket might be good to bring attention to it. When did this issue start?

@XfinityEthan  This is a new account, only a month and a half old.  The reboot had been there since the beginning.  That's why I was asking if it was "normal".  Especially since it happens the same time every day.

@Doit2it42 @Thanks for description of your setup, my xfinity gateway never rebooted daily, not even monthly, but my cable box did, so I just wondered..

I had daily gateway reboot (3AM-5AM CT) since I replaced my modem-only unit with TG1682G (and DPC3941T later). I was told it is Xfinity maintenance hours. Gateway reboot takes about 5 mins.

Story short - Since I have my own router so I bought a 3rd party cable modem two days ago and no more reboot since! Short 1min to reboot.
