CANON TR8520 AND WPA3 WIFI

I am having an issue with connecting my Canon TR8520 printer to my wireless internet. I just switched my wifi modem, now my printer won't connect. I am not asked for the password during set up. I have contacted Canon and was advised, the printer is looking for WPA2 connection … and my WIFI is WPA3. I have called technical support with Xfinity to no avail. They just keep sending me back to Canon. Please advise how to connect my printer, please.  I have the new white box modem.

Hello @user_ed7170! I hate to hear you're having trouble connecting your printer. You can change your security mode to ensure the printer can connect.

@XfinityJennifer  Thank you although Xfinity needs to work on a better issue for printers because the wpa3 should support a wpas2 without having to change everything to a wpas2.

@XfinityJennifer see that this is now an accepted solution, when will Xfinity support WPA3? Will existing customers be informed so they can change their WPA2 settings?

At this time no information has been provided for WPA3.

That is not the right answer, as the printer only supports WPA2, Xfinity should fix the issue that the XB8 support WPA3(-personal).    BTW the change your security mode  article is incorrect: you cannot change security via the admin tool.    If you change it via the app, it changes the security for ALL devices, so not a good solution if only the printer needs it.   When can we expect WPA3 support on XB8?

@user_748415  Yes, that is what I noticed after going in. Xfinity needs a better fix than what is being offered!

@user_ed7170

Most likely your printer needs to connect to 2.4 GHz and your modem is 5GHz.  You will have to split out the 2.4 GHz from the 5 GHz.
