Cannot enable WPA3 in Xfinity app (or via admin account on XB-7)

After finding this thread:

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/wpa3-security/62094bb0f196ef0fda9dc5c8

I tried to enable WPA3 using the admin account on the router, but it says I need to go to xfinity.com/myxfi (the security protocol, along with other settings, are grayed out). It appears myxfi is being phased out in favor of the xfinity app, so I enabled Advanced Security in the app as a first step. Then I navigated to my wifi network, the security protocol only has WPA2 listed. What do I need to do for access to WPA3?

Hello @amber9 , thanks for reaching out for help with changing the security protocol on your Xfinity Gateway. Here are the steps you would need to take to change between WPA/WPA2/WPA3:

  1. If you have an xFi Gateway (see eligibility and details), use the Xfinity app and sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
  2. To change the security mode, select your network from Overview. You can also access My Network by navigating to Connect and selecting your network on the Xfinity app.
  3. Select the Pencil icon when using the Xfinity app.
    • Note: If you have xFi Pods, you cannot select open security.
  4. Select Apply Changes after making any updates.

    Using the Admin Tool

    1. Connect to your WiFi network.
    2. In a web browser, navigate to http://10.0.0.1 and sign in.
      • If you haven't changed your login information, the default username is admin and the default password is password.
    3. Navigate to Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi, then select Edit to change the security mode. To complete the change, click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.

Note: If you have xFi Pods, you cannot change your security settings in the Admin Tool.

@XfinityRyanE thank you for the answer! Unfortunately I did not have any luck with this on Android or iPhone (please see the below pics), and neither one had a pencil icon though I was able to edit the WiFi settings.

One quick follow up, when I try to use the admin account at 10.0.0.1 I still have the same problem as before. The WPA2-PSK (AES) option is selected for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and I cannot change them (they are locked). A header at the top of the page tells me to use the Xfinity app to make any changes.

The Xfinity app has replaced most of the options to change your network settings. The following document will provide additional options https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/view-change-wifi-password.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@amber9

See if anything here still applies. YMMV.

I am having the exact same issue. So far forums and Comcast employee assistance has failed to resolve the issue for me as well.

Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums, @user_2d5833! Do you know which model Wireless Gateway you have?
